The need for post-secondary training is great in the northern territories, where the majority of students who wish to continue their education in French must travel to the southern provinces after high school.
Collège Nordique has been mandated to become an accredited college by the Government of the Northwest Territories by 2024. With this accreditation, Collège nordique francophone will become the only recognized francophone post-secondary college in the three northern territories.
With the adoption of the Northwest Territories Post-Secondary Education Act in the fall of 2022, the Collège has been working to prepare its application for accreditation in order to comply with the Act and the standards required to become a recognized educational institution. More than two years of sustained effort went into the preparation of this official application, which was submitted in November 2023.
Once accredited, Collège Nordique will be able to design its own programs of study and sanction them through official certification such as diplomas and certificates of study.
